Wine Critic: "This is a joyously juicy, fruity off-dry Riesling packed with sun-drenched yellow cherry and peach flavors. Fresh with lemon-lime acidity and feather-light on its feet, it's an easy-drinking, revitalizing sip that rewards youthful drinking. Anna Lee C. Iijima" - 89/100, Wine Enthusiast
My Thoughts: Today I am drinking a sparkling Riesling from Germany. I’ve never tried a sparkling wine made from Riesling grapes so I am excited to try it out! Germany’s wines are quite foreign to me as well. This bottle does not indicate a vintage year. First impressions: decent. I taste green apple and pear. It is sweet, fruit forward, and has some mineral aspects as well. I served this cold without decanting and this wine was very refreshing. This wine is a bit too acidic for me and the notes are very linear and one dimensional. I’m not a big fan of the sparkling aspect. This bottle is not bad but I think there are better options at this price point.
I paired this wine with pistachio ice cream. The ice cream was light and nutty and the slightly sweet Riesling was absolutely divine together. The acidity cuts through the creaminess well and the chunks of pistachio combined with the sparkling bubbles adds texture. Overall, this pairing is really nice and I will keep this in mind for the future!
I give it an 73/100.
