Wine Critic: “This is a really good unoaked Chardonnay from Central Valley, Chile. The quality price ratio is high on quality and low on the price. The wine speaks to the coastal marine minerality. The palate is vibrant with racy acidity and medium-bodied. Notes of sea salt, quince pear, and seafaring characteristics keeps this wine intriguing. Long, dry finish.” - W.N. (May. 17, 2021)
Wine Folly: From "Wine Folly: Magnum Edition: The Master Guide" by Madeline Puckette and Justin Hammack, it is noted on page 237 that Chardonnay grapes are very creamy and buttery. It is low on tannins and medium acidity which makes it a fantastic choice for more subtle flavors. Specifically, Wine Folly recommends lobster.
My Thoughts: Today I am drinking a wine from South America, namely from Chile’s Central Valley. Chardonnay is usually from Burgundy, France and California, USA so I decided to try something new. First impressions: Decent! It definitely tastes like chardonnay. It has a rough style to the flavor profile. Aroma-wise it is contains a lot of citrus and flowers. It is quite light and slightly sweet. This wine is a medium but enjoyable finish.
I made ginger scallion lobster as recommended by wine folly. This chardonnay goes well with the dish! It is light and buttery and the acidity cuts through the lobster meat well.
I give it an 77/100.
