Ferrari 812 GTS
The 812 GTS is, in my opinion, one of the best modern Ferraris on the market. It is fast and bold in design. From the rear-view mirrors to the unique shape of its tail, the 812 GTS rethinks the Superfast as a convertible. The car is extremely fast, going from 0-60 in 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 211 MPH. The Superfast, the 812 GTS’ sister car, goes 0-60 in 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 211 MPH — just slightly beating out the GTS in terms of speed. However, losing a minimal amount of quickness is well worth it for the convertible option. With the roof off, you can hear the engine roar unsuppressed. The naturally aspirated V12 is extremely well-tuned and pleasing to listen to. Most Ferrari convertibles pack a V8, so the 812 GTS offers an upgrade that has not been seen in five decades.
The 812 GTS has a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and produces 800 CV at 8500 RPM. This transmission goes up and down in an instant without losing a beat. The iconic Manettino was calibrated specifically for the V12 engine, resulting in car delivering extreme power while maintaining a smooth power delivery for all speeds. Some people criticize the interior of the 812 GTS. There are knobs and buttons everywhere and Jeremy Clarkson says it is a mess and too confusing. Personally, I enjoy the aesthetics this car provides; it feels as if you are piloting a spaceship — one made by Ferrari that is. The trend of newer Ferraris towards a futuristic yet classy design is a breath of fresh air and a change up from the classic designs and I am here for it.
The steering on the 812 GTS is extremely light. The steering wheel is responsive and can handle turns very smoothly compared to other sports cars. The rear wheel drive is very important as the 812 GTS is extremely fast. Most importantly though, the feel of the car enables and empowers you to keep on driving; The rumbles of the exhaust, the howls and screams of the engine, and revving the naturally aspirated 6.5-Liter V12 is a dopamine rush to drive. How many other convertibles can compare to this one?
