I forgot to take a picture for this wine. I found this picture online. Credit to: Reggie Solomon

Name: Tabali Talinay Sauvignon Blanc 2021
Variety: Sauvignon Blanc
Region: Limarí Valley
Country: Chile
Price: $25

Wine Critic: "When it comes to salinity in the wines from northern Chile, you should try this one. The saline notes are especially present on the palate, where that salty sensation is shown along with ripe white fruits and herbs. This is a dense and heavy wine with tremendous structure, great depth of flavors, and acidity that runs from the beginning to the end of the palate, providing freshness and underscoring that salinity. A sauvignon that has always been on the podium of Chile's best sauvignons." - 96/100, Patricio Tapia - Descorchados

Wine Folly: From "Wine Folly: Magnum Edition: The Master Guide" by Madeline Puckette and Justin Hammack, it is noted on page 382 that Sauvignon Blanc grapes are very herbaceous with a slight spiciness. It is semi dry with high acidity. It is noted that this type of grape pairs well with “herb-driven sauces, salty cheeses, light meats, and last but not least, Asian food.” (382). It is also noted that gooseberry and honeydew are dominant aromas and contributes to the herbaceous flavors that comes from this type of grape.

My Thoughts: Today I am drinking a white wine from Limarí Valley, located in Chile. I’ve had many different Sauvignon Blancs from this region so I am excited to compare this to the other ones from different areas. This bottle is from the 2021 vintage year. Unlike the Tabali reds, this does not have the volcanic terroir. First impressions: awesome. It is a fresh tasting Sauvignon Blanc with a high intensity flavors. It is minerally with lemon zest, green apple, and chilli peppers. It is very crisp with lower acidity than I expected. I think there are better options at this price point so I will not be buying this again. However, this bottle is delicious and I enjoyed trying Sauvignon Blanc from this region.

I went to the free wine tasting at the Wine Cellar for this tasting!

I give it an 80/100.
