Wine Critic: "This is a combination of Tabalí's most important vineyards in Chile, primarily from those in Río Hurtado (50% malbec) in the heights of Limarí, about 1,600 meters above sea level, and DOM (30% cabernet sauvignon) in Maipo Costa. It also has 10% cabernet franc from Talinay and 10% syrah from Espinal, both in Limarí. The malbec from Río Hurtado makes a strong presence with its fruits and violets, but the smooth and highly polished structure of the DOM cabernet also brings its share of elegance to this wine that's very balanced, despite its youth. Give it time in the bottle. It needs at least a couple of years." - 93/100, Patricio Tapia - Descorchados
Wine Folly: From "Wine Folly: Magnum Edition: The Master Guide" by Madeline Puckette and Justin Hammack, it is noted on page 217 that Cabernet Franc grapes are the parent grape of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is blended with Malbec which has a strong body (299). Syrah also has similar qualities with strong body and high acidity.
My Thoughts: I am drinking a red wine from Limarí Valley, located in Chile. I’ve had the Sauvignon Blanc and the Viognier wine from this region and they were very good. This bottle is from the 2018 vintage year. This red has grapes grown in the volcanic terroir, contributing to its unique flavors. First impressions: exceptional! This blend is very drinkable and delicious. It is strong and well structured. The flavor is very complex and elegant. It is very aromatic. This wine is spicy and a bit herbal. I smell berries, smoky flavors, and earthy aromas. I really enjoyed this one! This wine is a bit pricy but this wine is probably my favorite from this tasting at the Wine Cellar!
I give it an 88/100.
