Wine Critic: “Green apples, pear and citrus are all here in this delightful, nicely balanced wine. Serve well-chilled on a hot summer day.” - M.F. (June. 26, 2022)
Wine Folly: From "Wine Folly: Magnum Edition: The Master Guide" by Madeline Puckette and Justin Hammack, it is noted on page 368 that Chardonnay grapes are very creamy. The grape is rich with medium acidity and alcohol level. It is usually dry with medium-low body. It is noted that this type of grape pairs well with subtle spices and buttery foods. Wine Folly recommends pairing this with lobster. It is also noted that yellow apple, starfruit, and pineapple are dominant aromas for Chardonnay.
My Thoughts: Today I am drinking some more Chardonnay from Chile. Last time, I was impressed so I decided to try another bottle from a different winery. La Playa Estate is located in Chile. First impressions: decent. It has a medium body and it is sweeter than I expected. It is crisp and minerally. The flavors are not as complex as I would have liked. I can almost taste some floral notes even though that is not one of the noted aromas. For the price, it is not bad at all and I would consider buying a bottle on a hot summer day.
I give it an 73/100.
