Name: Les Gourmets Touraine Sauvignon
Variety: Sauvignon Blanc
Region: Touraine
Country: France
Price: $12

Wine Critic: “Dry as a bone, a little tart with green apple skin and savory white grape. Great value for a summer wine or with a light meal. ” - R.J. (July. 20, 2018)

Wine Folly: From "Wine Folly: Magnum Edition: The Master Guide" by Madeline Puckette and Justin Hammack, it is noted on page 382 that Sauvignon Blanc grapes are very acidic. It is low sweetness and medium low alcohol. It is noted that this type of grape pairs well with spicy foods. It is also noted that gooseberry is a dominant aroma and contributes to the high acidity that comes from this type of grape.

My Thoughts: Today I am drinking a white wine from Touraine, France. First impressions: decent. The flavors are muted but I do not mind it too much. It is medium acidity which contrasts with a high acidity California Sauvignon Blanc I had the other day. The French terroir and temperatures do not produce grapes as ripe so this makes sense. It is very light and complex in flavors. I can almost taste green apple and pears. It was served chilled and has a decent aftertaste. For the price, it is a value purchase.

I tried this bottle at the local Vintage Cellar! The people there are great and very knowledgeable about wines.

I give it an 72/100.
